When it comes to managing environmental services, SAAKAR has a robust program that focuses on the highest environmental compliance standards. Taking “green” to the next level is not only good practice, but the right thing to do. We take our responsibility to the land seriously. We integrate land reclamation into every phase of mining. Great care is taken to ensure that the land is restored to a natural and productive state once mining is completed. We are committed to operating in a manner that meets or exceeds current environmental law. This involves proper planning, permitting and monitoring of mining activities to assure compliance with applicable standards. The reclamation of mined lands is also an important objective of each mining projects.
Detailed post mining plans are researched, designed and approved. Contemporaneous land restoration ensures the smallest active area for mining operations, and ongoing monitoring allows the company to swiftly measure results and adjust to changing environmental conditions. Reclamation is an integral part of SAAKAR’s mining operations. Reclamation activities consist of filling the voids created during coal removal, replacing sub soils and top soils and then re-establishing the vegetative cover etc has many uses including farming, grazing, commercial forestry, wildlife habitat, economic development projects and other recreational activities and livestock etc. At the conclusion of reclamation activities, the area disturbed by mining will look similar to what it did before mining begun.
Therefore environmentally, "RUNNING RIGHT" is our commitment not only to designing, building, operating and restoring our mine sites in compliance with environmental requirements but also our commitment to promote innovation by drawing on the knowledge and experience of our employees. Mining by definition has an impact on the environment, running right means that we strive to minimize that impact as well as the risks associated with unplanned or unauthorized events.
"LEADING RIGHT" means that we promote and encourage continuous improvement in environmental performance throughout the company. We support this effort by devoting the appropriate personnel, resources and technical support to environmental compliance.
"LIVING RIGHT" means that we recognise that our mines and facilities are located in and near communities, and we strive to be good neighbours wherever we operate our job/mine sites.
